Renew Australia and Hobsons Bay City Council have teamed up to breathe new life into Williamstown’s vacant spaces with exciting creative ideas and enterprises. We’re bringing artists, makers, and creators right to the heart of Williamstown, transforming empty shops into vibrant hubs.
The ‘Renew Williamstown’ project will utilise Renew Australia’s proven methodology to activate vacant spaces, with a focus on Douglas Parade, Ferguson Street, and Nelson Place.
Renew Williamstown is designed to rejuvenate areas experiencing commercial vacancy through increasing foot traffic and activity, whilst supporting local creative and entrepreneurial communities. Through the activation of space and bringing new local ideas and businesses to visible shopfronts, the project aims to support existing traders by drawing people back into this area via events, workshops, exhibitions and classes.
Property is borrowed on a rent-free or low-cost basis via a 30-day rolling licence and offered to a program participant who complements, not competes, with existing businesses in the area.
Expressions of Interest for Renew Williamstown are now open and will remain open for the duration of the project.
