Renew Australia are pleased to be partnering with Working Heritage again on an exciting new initiative to activate the historic Warracknabeal Court House.

Warracknabeal, situated between Horsham and Hopetoun in the north-west of Victoria, features a number of historic buildings including the Court House on Woolcock Street.

The Court House, which has been vacant for some time, was in operation for 98 years from 1891 to 1989 after which it time it was used as a meeting space for the Warracknabeal Historical Society.

This initiative will help to bring life to the historic Court House. It will also demonstrate the potential future uses for the heritage-listed site and provide the opportunity for new businesses and community initiatives to test their ideas at minimal cost.

Working Heritage will work with Renew Australia to place creative and community enterprises and projects into the disused Court House; helping to make the site active, while ensuring the property is looked after for years to come.

This initiative will be an important first step in breathing new life into Court House

Expression of Interest:

Renew Australia are looking for new creative and community projects to present to Working Heritage for consideration.

The Expression of Interest seeks to attract local creative entrepreneurs, makers, social entrepreneurs and community groups to bring their projects and ideas that will activate the historic Court House for both short and long term activation.

Selected participants will be given temporary rent free access to the spaces, made available thanks to Working Heritage.

You could be part of a growing creative movement to promote local economic, cultural and community development, the arts and creative industries across Australia and be part of the renewal of a remarkable heritage place.

The “Renew” model

If successful, you get 30 days rent free – then, you get another 30 days, and so on. It’s the perfect way to test the market and try new things!

To apply, please submit an Expression of Interest here.
